Talita Alencar just bounced back with a huge win over Vanessa Demopoulos at UFC Vegas 105 on April 5th, 2025. Alencar transitioned to MMA pretty late in her combat sports career but after winning multiple IBJJF No Gi World Championship titles, she had a fantastic base to start from. She wasted no time either and she came to the UFC’s attention inside of just two years, eventually winning her promotional debut by decision. Alencar was undefeated at this point but still pretty early in career and the very next fight proved to be her first taste of defeat, as she lost a decision at UFC Vegas 95.

That put Alencar in a tough position coming into UFC Vegas 105, as she was looking to rebound against one of the toughest veterans in the strawweight division. Vanessa Demopoulos has been fighting in the UFC for almost as long as Alencar has been doing MMA, and she has more than double the fight-experience in total. It should’ve been a difficult matchup for Alencar but she proved that she belongs at the highest level of the sport by dominating Demopoulos across all three rounds. She relied heavily on her elite grappling, making sure that nobody in the strawweight division will ever feel confident going to the ground with her in the after watching this.

Alencar took Demopoulos down early in the first round and spent the majority of it on top, landing several strikes while avoiding the threat of submission from her opponent. There was a little more striking in the second round but a well-timed double-leg meant that Alencar could again control the fight from the top. She landed more strikes and attempted an arm-triangle choke at one point, winning another round pretty cleanly. Demopoulos came at her hard immediately in the third round but it wasn’t long before Alencar got her back down and handed out more ground and pound, winning all three rounds on every judge’s scorecards.
