ONE Friday Fights 114 took place on June 27th, 2025 and the show opened with a grappling match between Takuma Sudo and Shamsudin Magomedov. ONE Championship has been steadily building their submission grappling divisions and a big part of that has been the matches on their Friday Fights shows. It’s becoming a great launching pad for competitors and Sudo might have just become the latest one to benefit from it. Both Sudo and Magomedov are professional MMA fighters but both of them also brought plenty of other experience into the match too. Magomedov is a BJJ black belt with quite a few competitions under his belt, while Sudo has actually been focusing more on grappling than MMA lately.
It’s proven to be a good career-move for Sudo, who was coming into this off the back of two submission wins and a title on Breakthrough Combat. He made Magomedov play his game for almost the entirety of their match, as he hit an entry to the legs almost immediately after being taken down. Magomedov did have brief moments where he was working to pass or attempting to counter-leglock but Sudo was relentless in hunting the finish. He chained together several different attacks and although he wasn’t able to get the submission win, it was an impressive decision win that could earn him even bigger matches in the future.
