Gisele Bundchen is one of the most famous supermodels of all time, and she’s just been promoted to purple belt in BJJ under the Valente brothers. She was born in Brazil and began working in the fashion industry as a teenager, quickly rising to the very top of that world by working with some of the biggest brands on the planet. Before she even hit the age of 20 she was already posing for campaigns by major brands like Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, and Versace. Bundchen became the highest-paid model on the planet several years in a row and before long, she ranked as one of the richest women in the entertainment industry.
She dabbled in both acting and even released songs over the years, but modelling was always the main career in her life. Outside of that, she has spent a lot of her time on philanthropic endeavors and Bundchen regularly either raises funds or donates herself directly to a number of charities. Obviously anyone working as model has to take very good care of their body and a number of them are involved in sports or general fitness, but involvement in combat sports is obviously rare in that industry. It makes sense too, as there’s an obvious and frequent risk of sustaining minor injuries that might derail their livelihood.
Nonetheless, Gisele Bundchen repotedly started training BJJ under the Valente Brothers in December, 2021, and was recently promoted to purple belt as a result of her time spent on the mats. While it’s rare to see a model training in any combat sport, BJJ appears to be growing in popularity so much that it’s reaching even the most unlikely of areas. Just recently, fellow model and former Miss Universe winner Leila Lopes also started training in the sport. As time goes on, the number of celebrities training in BJJ is likely to increase even further and it seems as though we might see more famous BJJ colored belts in the future.
