Subversiv 5 delivered yet another exciting night of action in Miami, Florida, although this time the promotion choose to do things a little differently by halving the teams in the main tournament in order to make time for a full card of superfights, and the results spoke volumes. This change of approach allowed for a nice break from the team format at several points in the night, and produced a number of highlights outside of the main feature. First up was NCAA All-American Pat Downey putting on a dominating display in only his second professional BJJ match, shortly followed by Elisabeth Clay claiming ownership of the Subervsiv Women’s Championship by submitting Andressa Cintra with a beautiful Kneebar.

As for the team tournament, ATOS managed to lay waste to the field of opponents as Rafaela Guedes, Kaynan Duarte, and Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa won every single match and claimed their second consecutive team trophy. Oliver Taza managed to register a huge win over Gabriel Almeida for the Danaher Death Squad, but unfortunately neither of his teammates could replicate that success as they went out against Checkmat in the very first round. Elsewhere, John Combs suffered the same fate when he submitted JM Holland with a lovely Arm-Triangle, only for his Studio 84 teammates to both in the match against 10th Planet.
