Subversion 4: Ascension took place on December 2nd, 2023 and the results of the main event saw the promotion crown their inaugural heavyweight champion. Josh Saunders and Roberto Frias were battling it out to become the first person to hold the title and in the end, it was a tough match with plenty of action. It was a great matchup between two of Australia’s top grapplers and although Saunders had a slight size advantage, Frias has far more experience in the sport. Saunders managed to get the win by decision, and he became the first person to win a Subversion title in any weight class.
They weren’t the only top competitors to step on the mats at Subversion 4: Ascension though, as the talented Nikki Lloyd-Griffiths also got a decision win over Fran Bavaro. There was several slick submission finishes and some very exciting matches even earlier on in the night than that too. Caio Tamura and Ryan Walsh battled it out in a fast-paced and entertaining match, but ultimately Tamura locked up a rear-naked choke to get the win. There was even plenty of action on the preliminary card too, with Kindra Doyle wasting no time in setting up a beautiful ninja choke to submit Victoria Sing.
