Submission Hunter Pro 99 took place on August 23rd, 2025 and there was a great mix of both gi and no gi matches at the event. The majority of the matches ended in decision, but there was still plenty of action in them. Elsa Cardenas actually got the first finish of the night four matches in, as she hit a lovely armbar from the top that she took all the way to full extension to get the tap. The only other submission of the night actually came a few matches later, when Henry Chionuma wrenched on a tight kimura against Stephen Fall.
Everything progressed well over the next hour or so, until controversy struck just before the co-main event. Henrique Camargo was working for a triangle choke when Matheus Araujo picked him up and after a few moments standing, he slammed him back down to the mat. Araujo was disqualified and although it definitely wasn’t the way Camargo wanted to win, it was a clear illegal technique. Then Chancen Bateman got an impressive decision win in the co-main event, followed by a three-round masters title-fight to finish the night off. It was a close battle and Ravel Ventura did manage to take one round according to the judge, but Rodrigo Lopes won the other two and left with the belt.
