Submission Hunter Pro 97 took place on May 9th, 2025 and there was some excellent matches on the promotion’s latest card. Josh Dawson kicked things off on the main card with an excellent counter-heel hook, catching his opponent right when he thought he was getting into some offense. There were a few decision wins after that, including one from top New Wave Jiu-Jitsu prospect Landon Elmore, before Nathan Hernandez hit the second heel hook finish of the night. Leroy Montoya got the next submission win with a leglock of his own, quickly followed by JR Caballero doing the same and keeping the momentum going.
Alex Lane locked up a tight triangle choke to finish the only gi match of the night early, while promotional veteran Austin Oranday got a big submission win against Bruno Matias with a heel hook in the very next match of the night. Justin Renick ended up with one of the biggest highlights in the co-main event though, as he glued himself to Joe Murphy like a backpack and finished him with a standing rear-naked choke. The main event then saw Jake Heffernan putting on a great performance from start to finish, as he submitted Carlos Henriquez with an arm-triangle choke.
