Submission Hunter Pro 96 took place on March 30th, 2025 and the promotion continued their run of solid events lately. There was a long supporting card full of children and colored belts, leading in to a fun main card full of exciting and talented competitors. Urban Sanchez was the first one to find a finish there with a rear-naked choke, quickly followed by promotional veteran Dylan Melton hitting a brutal shoulder-lock in the very next match. That wasn’t the only unusual finish of the night either, as James Mikus stood out by locking up a slick gogoplata from the bottom to submit his opponent.
Josh Leonard finished his opponent with a heel hook and that proved to be great matchmaking, as he got the crowd pumped up ready for the co-main event. Justin Renick came out for the penultimate match of the night and added yet another rear-naked choke to his Submission Hunter Pro record. The main event was up next and it featured another man with experience competing for the promotion, Ray Rodriguez. He was taking on Steve Portillo and Rodriguez came at him with everything he had from the start, happily taking top position as soon as Portillo pulled guard. Rodriguez put on a passing clinic over the next 7 minutes and won a pretty clear-cut decision, closing out the show in style.
