The StreetX 16-Man Challenge 2 took place on October 25th, 2025 and with $20,000 on the line, some of the beat grapplers in Australia showed out. The popular BJJ brand held their first event just a few months ago and although their reigning champion returned for another shot at glory. The prize money was four times bigger this time around though, so the level of competition that Kaya Rudolph faced was even higher than before. Rudolph is undoubtedly one of the top grapplers on the Australian circuit but he couldn’t hold on to his title, as he went out in the semi-final here.
The man who beat Rudolph was James Watson, and the 10th Planet brown belt really put his name on the map with an incredible breakout performance. Watson actually scored an upset in the very first round, submitting Nicholas Maglicic with a heel hook despite being at a size disadvantage. Watson then submitted Harrison Everett with a rear-naked choke and caught Rudolph with an ankle-lock that looked like it caused dome damage; securing his place in the final. It was already an incredible series of wins from the 22 year-old but standing opposite him for his fourth match was one of the best leglockers in Australia.
Lucas Kanard dominated the other side of the bracket with a pair of very quick heel hook finishes over Hayden Limebeer and George Garley, taking just 2 minutes to submit both of them. Kanard had his toughest match of the day in the semi-final; where Anton Minenko threw everything at him from start to finish but couldn’t do enough to get the win when it went to decision. It was always going to be a battle for leg entanglements when Watson and Kanard met in the final and although Watson is going to be one to watch over the next few years, Kanard got his third heel hook win of the night to take home the $20,000 grand prize.
