Shoya Ishiguro just registered one of the most devastating submission wins of his entire career in the opening match of ONE Friday Fights 115 on July 4th, 2025. Ishiguro was up against Denny Sisti, who was coming off a highlight-reel finish of his own in his ONE Championship debut just a few months ago. Ishiguro has had far more experience for the promotion and he was coming into this match with a 3-1 record there, with his most recent appearance being a submission loss to Diogo Reis. He needed a big win here to start his climb back to the top of the bantamweight division, and that’s exactly what he delivered.

Sisti hit an early takedown and although he started working some quick passing attempts, Ishiguro showed beautiful guard retention to shut it all down. Ishiguro managed to get in on Sisti’s legs after a little under a minute and he almost used the threat to sweep him, but Sisti recovered and both men were left standing. Ishiguro pulled guard straight into an ankle-lock attempt but Sisti countered with a leg-attack of his own, forcing Ishiguro to abandon the attack at least. Ishiguro kept up his offense and eventually used it to sweep, employing heavy passing to move into side control shortly after.

Sisti recovered guard after a while but Ishiguro immediately worked his way to half-guard, where Sisti was using a hip-clamp to slow him down. Ishiguro opened that and started working his passing again, showing great movement to get around his legs and into side-control. Sisti trapped a foot as Ishiguro tried to step into mount and got back to that hip-clamp position, but it wasn’t long before Ishiguro passed to side control again. This time he started to set up an arm-in north-south choke reminiscent of Marcelo Garcia, before taking Sisti’s back as he tried to turn and driving in hard for the neck crank finish.
