The Ruotolo brothers were both competing at ONE on Prime Video 5, and they both put on impressive displays. First up was Tye Ruotolo, who was competing in his second ONE Championship grappling match against Murat Gafurov, a veteran MMA fighter and former ONE Lightweight world champion. The pair met on the preliminary card of the event and in the end, Gafurov could only make it a little over halfway through the match before he was caught in a tight triangle choke. He defended well but Tye made a quick transition to the armbar and forced him to tap to that instead.
Kade Ruotolo was then competing in the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 5, where he was making his first title-defence against fellow BJJ competitor Matheus Gabriel. Kade was making a surprisingly quick turnaround after he last competed at ONE on Prime Video 3, which was where he first won his Lightweight title by submitting Uali Khurzev. Gabriel put up a tough fight and ended up going the distance against Kade but he wasn’t able to do enough to win the match in the judge’s eyes. When all was said and done, both of the Ruotolo brothers managed to come away with wins at ONE on Prime Video 5 and Tye may well have set himself up for a chance at a title in his next outing.
