Rose Gracie has just been appointed as the president of The Brazilian MMA Confederation (CBMMAD), and the move is happening with immediate effect. Not only is she a member of the legendary Gracie family but she’s actually the daughter of Rorion Gracie, who was a very important figure in the birth of the UFC. It’s a challenging job and a key role for the growth of MMA in Brazil, with the next generation of fighters relying heavily on what the CBMMAD does. As one of the many national federations that collectively make major IMMAF events possible, the CBMMAD is an important organization globally too.
That platform has helped hundreds of amateur fighters build up experience against their fellow future stars and many IMMAF world champions have gone on to enjoy successful professional MMA careers too. Rose Gracie will be bringing some unique insights into the role of president for CBMMAD, particularly because of her experience with the Concussion Legacy Foundation. Protecting fighters in the early stages of their careers is a vital to their long-term success, and she has the knowledge to help CBMMAD do that. She will also be bringing some valuable experience from her work with Gracie Tournaments Worldwide, and that will be a huge benefit to the organizational side of CBMMAD.
The Brazilian MMA Confederation announced the news that Rose Gracie had been appointed their new president in a recent post to their official Instagram account. They also shared the first comments on the appointment from Rose Gracie herself (translated from the original Portuguese):
“I am incredibly honored to take on this new role at CBMMAD. Our Focus will always be on the well-being of our athletes and on making Brazil the reference of excellence in the world of MMA. Together with my team, we will build a strong and sustainable future for MMA in Brazil.”
