Rory MacDonald has just announced that he has recorded a pair of instructionals and will be releasing them through BJJ Fanatics. MacDonald is one of the most successful MMA fighters to ever emerge from Canada and he has spent a long time competing at the very top of the sport. He was always known for being an incredibly well-rounded fighter and is a BJJ black belt under David Lea with fantastic grappling. Over the course of his MMA career he managed to beat some of the best grapplers in the sport as well, as he holds wins over Demian Maia, BJ Penn, and Nate Diaz.
MacDonald started out his career in his native Canada and had a very successful time on the regional MMA circuit, going 9-0 and winning the King Of The Cage lightweight title. He finished every opponent he faced during that superb run and that earned him the opportunity to compete in the UFC. He held a promotional record of 9-4 and even challenged Robbie Lawler for the welterweight title at one point as well. MacDonald then moved to Bellator and had a run as their welterweight world champion, along with moving up in weight to challenge for the middleweight title as well.
MacDonald moved to PFL after losing the Bellator title and competed in their welterweight tournament seasons in both 2021 and 2022. After his second attempt at a PFL title in, MacDonald decided to call it a day on his professional MMA career with a 23-10-1 record. Now Rory MacDonald has been working with BJJ Fanatics to share his wisdom the world, releasing two instructionals on his areas of expertise. One will be on takedowns for grappling and the other will be on top control on the ground, two things that he had success with at the highest level during his career.
BJJ Fanatics announced the news that Rory MacDonald was going to be releasing a series of instructionals with them in a recent post to their official Instagram account, and they will be available to purchase here shortly:
