Rodolfo Vieira and Bo Nickal were matched up in a battle between elite grapplers at UFC 322 on November 16th, 2025 and the fight didn’t disappoint. As with many of these fights between wrestlers and BJJ black belts, the majority of it was actually contested on the feet. Nickal wasn’t exactly afraid to go for the takedown though, as he landed one early on that helped him win the first round. It was a big slam and although Vieira stood back up pretty quickly, Nickal punished him with a lot of strikes along the way. He was also chipping away at him with a solid jab, building up a comfortable lead by the time the first round ended.
The second round followed a similar pattern, as Nickal was winning the striking exchanges with his jab and some quick combinations. Vieira attempted a few takedowns but he couldn’t get the fight where he wanted it, and he was starting to slow down as a result. Nickal continued to work behind his jab in the third round and it looked as though he was going to cruise to a unanimous decision victory. Then he suddenly unleashed a huge head kick that landed perfectly on Vieira, sending him crashing down to the canvas and prompting the referee to rush in to stop any further damage.
