Robert Degle and Ruan Alvarenga have just been booked to compete against one another in an excellent superfight at Place of Peace Invitational 3 on August 13th, 2023. It’s not the only match between a pair of top competitors that has been arranged for the event either, as Devhonte Johnson and Vinicius ‘Trator’ Ferreira will also be battling it out on the mats. Considering that the promotion has only been operational for a handful of events spread over a few months, they’ve really managed to put together something special already. They’ve already Joao Miyao headlining their debut card and with several exciting tournaments in the books, they’re riding a wave of success coming into their third event.
Ruan Alvarenga reached the highest point of his career last year when he made his promotional debut at ADCC 2022. He competed in the 66kg division and gave a good account of himself but went out in the opening round against the eventual silver medalist, Gabriel Sousa. Since then Alvarenga has earned another big opportunity too, as he competed on the main card of Who’s Number One 18 against Dante Leon. He’s been breaking into that highest level of competition recently and that’s one of the reasons that he’s the ideal opponent for Degle.
Robert Degle was always known as an incredible leglocker and not only have the majority of his wins come by submission, but specifically heel hooks too. He joined B-Team Jiu-Jitsu not so long ago, and it’ll be interesting to see if his time there has allowed him to develop any new areas of his game. Alvarenga v Degle is genuinely a great matchup, as both men are exciting competitors and it’ll be an opportunity for either one to prove that they belong with the best grapplers possible.
Place of Peace announced the news that Robert Degle v Ruan Alvarenga was taking place at their third event in a recent post to their official Instagram account.
