The first opportunity for North American grapplers to book a place at ADCC 2024 is almost upon us, as registration has now opened for the ADCC North American East Coast Trials 2023. The tournament will take place across the weekend of October 14th and 15th, 2023 and it will feature hundreds of the best competitors around battling for just five invites to ADCC 2024. There will be five men’s divisions and three women’s divisions, although only the men will receive invites this time around as their divisions at the ADCC world championship are twice as big.
Each of the 8 divisions available for grapplers have been capped at 256 entries, meaning that a maximum of 2048 places at the event. This means that if any of the divisions do reach full capacity, the eventual winner will have to defeat 8 elite competitors over the course of one weekend. It’s going to be a truly grueling process for the handful of grapplers who make it into the quarter-finals and beyond, and there will be several competitors at the event who will win a phenomenal amount of matches and still leave empty-handed.
This is all part of what makes the ADCC Trials so special, as anyone who manages to qualify from one of them has already established themselves as an incredible competitor before the ADCC World Championship begins. Every ADCC Trial attracts some phenomenal grapplers, including several IBJJF no gi world championship medalists and veterans of the superfight circuit. The ADCC North American East Coast Trials will be no exception in 2023 and now that the registration for it has opened, expect to see some of the biggest names of the sport signing up relatively soon.
