Kai Cenat is one of the most popular streamers in the world and he recently decided to take part in a Car Jitsu match. It’s a crazy format where two or four competitors start grappling inside a car, with their seatbelts buckled to begin with. From there it’s a race to unbuckle themselves in order to move freely, so they can start attempting to submit one another. The format first came around in 2020 and although it’s still a very niche ruleset, it’s gradually been gaining popularity over the years. Kenat isn’t even the first figure from outside the sport to take part, as a pair of adult film stars had a match earlier in the year.
Grappling is obviously a risky activity to begin with, as there’s always the possibility of injury when two people are attempting to manipulate each other’s joints. By introducing a confined space without a lot of padding, the injury risk obviously shoots up quite dramatically. Grapplers have suffered cuts from the car that they were competing in before and it’s not uncommon to see them using the seatbelt to choke one another as well. Despite the risk, Kai Cenat couldn’t resist the opportunity to compete in a Car Jitsu match when several competitors and the car itself were brought to his house.
Although the competitors in Car Jitsu are obviously nowhere near the same level as professional BJJ athletes, they all still have a decent amount of experience in grappling. Obviously with their experience in the format itself, they would have a huge advantage over someone like Cenat coming into a match without any background in it. Regardless, Cenat actually managed to do surprisingly well in his Car Jitsu match and was incredibly quick to take top position right with his opponent still in his seat. From there, Cenat was able to use the back of the seat to keep his opponent pinned until the time ran out.
