Polaris have just announced that they will be putting together an absolute grand prix for their very next event, which has already been booked for September 30th, 2023. This will be the 25th event that the promotion has put together since they started putting on elite grappling events with their first show all the way back in 2015. It’s a great way for Polaris to mark a huge milestone in their journey, as they’ve developed from an exciting new product into one of the most popular professional grappling promotions in the world.

This actually marks the second time that Polaris have tried to put together an absolute grand prix, although it should be a significantly easier ride than their first attempt. Back in the beginning of 2020, they announced the intention to run a huge tournament for their 13th event in April of that year. Unfortunately for professional grappling fans around the world, the pandemic struck and the majority of the grapplers competing were unable to fly out to the UK in order to attend the event. Credit where it’s due, Polaris managed to keep the event going by replacing all of the competitors and changing it to a UK under 90kg grand prix instead.

There’s no confirmation yet as to who will be included in the tournament lineup but with a grand prize of $30,000, there will undoubtedly be some big names interested in competing. There will be 8 men invited to compete in it and if past events are anything to go by, there will likely be a number of superfights booked for the event as well. Whether any of these superfights will include one of the reigning Polaris champions defending their title is another thing that seems probable given past events, but is purely speculation at present.

Polaris announced the news that they would be staging an absolute grand prix for their next event on September 30th, 2023 in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
