Polaris 22 featured exciting results from start to finish, including several superfights and the main event attraction, the Middleweight grand prix. The tournament featured eight of the best grapplers in the middleweight division battling it out for the promotion’s now-vacant title, and Roberto Jimenez was the one who managed to reach the top of the heap. Shane Fishman fought his way to the event by winning Polaris Contenders but he wasn’t able to stop Jimenez in the opening round, losing by a convincing margin on points. His final two matches of the night were both submission wins though, with Jimenez locking up a triangle choke against Hunter Colvin in the semifinal and an arm-triangle against Jed Hue in the final.

While Jimenez walked away as the new Polaris Middleweight world champion, another title-holder stepped on to the mats in the top-billed superfight of the night as well. Polaris triple-champion Ashley Williams stepped far outside of his comfort zone when he took on UFC veteran and former WEC Welterweight world champion Carlos Condit. In the end he made relatively short work of the MMA star though as he was able to lock up the heelhook against Condit after a little over four minutes of action, forcing him to tap.
