Pit Submission Series 3 took place on March 23rd, 2024 and the promotion arranged for a series of matches to take place at the end of Karate Combat: Kickback 2. It was a new decision as previous editions of Pit Submission Series have served as a preliminary card or been sprinkled throughout Karate Combat events, but everything else that makes the promotion fun has remained unchanged. They still put together a lineup of elite grapplers and MMA veterans for the event, and that formula delivered plenty of exciting matches and some highlight-reel moments once again.
Ethan Crelinsten was up first against Troy Worthen and they had some nice exchanges on the feet at first, but once Worthen committed to a shot it all went downhill for him. Crelinsten sprawled and worked his way to the back quickly, and from there it only took about a minute for him to lock up the rear-naked choke and get the submission win. The next battle was between two grappling veterans, Gregor Gracie and Gesias Cavalcante, and there was some great use of the pit wall during the match. Cavalcante used it first by backing up to the pit wall and stepping up it in order to launch forward and attack a guillotine choke, but Gracie was able to defend.
Gracie was next to use the wall, as he pulled guard near it and shifted his hips in order to plant his foot on the wall and assist him in sweeping Cavalcante. Gracie was able to work his way to Cavalcante’s back and after a little bit of work from there, he pulled his arm behind his back and cranked on the shoulder-lock in order to get the tap. The main event then saw Gillian Robertson take on Montana De La Rosa and although De La Rosa was able to get back into the match towards the end, Robertson won a decision thanks to a sustained period of positional control on the top.
