The regular season of PGF World Season 8 has now come to an end with the final 30 matches in week 5. This means that the playoffs are now set and unless anyone suffers an injury between now and the grand finale, the 8 men involved are all confirmed. The winning team has now been determined and although it was close all the way up to the final matches, early predictions largely came true. That doesn’t mean that there weren’t surprised along the way of course, and in fact some of the most expensive draft picks failed to make a big enough impact to make the playoffs.

PGF World Season 8 Week 5 Full Results And Recap

First things first, Team Captain Andy Varela led Team Dollamur to victory in Season 8, as they hung on to the lead throughout the final week. They only won by a handful of points in the end but a win is a win regardless, and 3 of their competitors will be returning for the playoffs. The Alabama Twisters were hot on their tails all night long and they also put 3 competitors in the playoffs, but Kris Olivo was one of them and he was absent this week. New Hope Kings finished in third and managed to take the final 2 spots in the playoffs, while the Tropic Thunders were miles behind everyone and not a single man will be returning for the grand finale.

Top Performers

Jett Thompson won the PGF World Season 8 regular season despite the shaky in the first few weeks, leglocking Michael Wacker and hitting a unique Kosovo Cradle on Zack Schneider to complete the fantastic comeback. Dominic Mejia came right behind him in 2nd place, a remarkable effort for a late replacement. Mejia also got two finishes in the final week, submitting Juan Martinez with a Ruotolotine and Mike John with an Aoki Lock. Landon Elmore had a great day too, leglocking both Dominic Lobo and Wacker to finish his run strong and take the 5th place in the playoffs.

The only other man to get two finishes this week was Andrew DeGraff, who actually came in as a late replacement with just one day left in the season. It was always going to be too late for him to make the playoffs but he proved to be a key member of Team Dollamur, as the difference in points was actually less than what he scored. They were very impressive wins too, as he submitted Schneider with a Tarikoplata and hit an ankle-lock on Anthony Molina. That win also proved to be important, as Molina missed out on a spot in the playoffs by a single point and will have to settle for being the first injury-replacement in line instead.

Other Winners

Derek Rayfield was just four points away from winning the regular season after coming away with one submission win this week, an anaconda choke against John Chandler. The man behind him in 4th is Christos Papadelos, who also only managed one submission win this week. Papadelos heel hooked Martinez, while Mike John did the same to Douglas Josue even though he couldn’t make it to the playoffs. John wasn’t the only one, as Jonathan Wilson submitted him with a D’arce choke and Sergio Ardila also caught him with a heel hook. Ardila also scored 2 points when JJ Bowers stalled through their match, but even that wasn’t enough for him to make the playoffs.

Matt Masch was the final man to get a consolation prize with a heel hook win over Lobo, and in 10th place he’s next in line as a replacement after Molina. The final two spots in the playoffs were taken by Raphael Ferreira and Dominic Lobo in 7th and 8th respectively, and they both sealed the deal with vital wins this week. Ferreira hit an anaconda choke on Schneider while Lobo submitted Chandler with a heel hook, and both men would have missed the playoffs if not for those wins. It was a tense week all round, and now all that’s left is to crown the champion in the grand finale on September 10th, 2025.
