PGF World Season 8 returned for Week 2 and things really started to heat up as they approach the halfway point. As always, some of the competitors are starting to stand out and make their run for the playoffs thanks to their first two performances combined. While some have been consistently successful, others made a comeback this week and managed to get themselves back in the running with some wins. The teams are also starting to be separated by some wider margins, as we start to discover which of the coaches made the best of the draft at the beginning of the season a few weeks ago.

PGF World Season 8 Week 2 Full Results And Recap

Injuries and replacements were the main storyline right from the start this week. Robert Blackledge was unable to attend week 2 of PGF World Season 8 due to a family emergency and he was replaced temporarily by Nick Sahf. Dollamur also suffered two injuries in the first week and came in with a very different lineup. Armin Bruni suffered an ankle injury and Derek Rayfield was brought in to replace him, while Spenser Ortiz has come in to take Mike John’s place. Then Brady Hylton had to pull out after his first match and was replaced by Noah Gutierrez, who in turn got injured in his second match. That led to Gutierrez forfeiting the final match, and Jordan Wirth did the same after suffering an injury of his own.

Top Performers

Landon Elmore and Kris Olivo were the stars this week, as both men submitted all three of their opponents with leglocks. Elmore hit an Aoki lock on Anthony Molina and a pair of ankle-locks on Gutierrez and Nick Sahf, while Olivo showed a little more variation. He submitted John Chandler with a toehold and Brady Branscum with a heel hook, before ankle-locking Anthony Gojani in a grudge match. They were the only two men to finish the week with a perfect record, but they weren’t the only ones to put some big points on the board in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs.

Molina rallied after the loss to Elmore by submitting both Chandler and Matt Masch with heel hooks, keeping himself firmly in the running. There was just one man who managed to break the 20-point mark though, and that was Christos Papadelos. He had a tough match against early favorite Jett Thompson first and left that with a draw, but he submitted Wirth with an ankle-lock in his second match. His final match was against Chandler and he locked up a very tight arm-in guillotine for one of the few 6-point wins of the week, taking the lead in the process.

Other Winners

The wins were fairly spread around elsewhere, as quite a few competitors managed to get some progress. Zack Schneider was in a solid position after the first week and he kept up that steady progress with a heel hook against Hylton, making him the only member of the Tropic Thunders to hit double-digits so far. Ortiz had a decent debut too, submitting JJ Bowers with a heel hook to get some points out of it. He did get submitted earlier in the night though, as Dominic Lobo caught him in a rear-naked choke before earning two points for a victory by forfeit in his last match.

Rayfield also had a good debut with a heel hook win over Gojani in his very first match, while Gojani managed to get something out of the day with an ankle-lock against Sahf. Masch was another man who earned some points despite being submitted himself, as he hit a brutal armbar against Bowers in his first match. The only other points of the day went to Jett Thompson, as his final match ended it before it began when Gutierrez had to forfeit. That gave him 2 points and he now has just 3 in total, putting him in a very tough spot for someone who was a favorite coming into the season.
