PGF World Season 7 has now come to an end and once the dust settled on the grand finale, one man delivered the results necessary to become the light-heavyweight champion. It’s been an incredibly long road to get here, with 30 matches every day for 4 days straight and 9 matches on this day to bring it to an end. There’s been almost too many great moments to talk about all at once, as there was an incredible 47 submission finishes throughout the regular season and another 6 during the grand finale. There was also a pair of superfights alongside the tournament finale too, and they were actually two of the most exciting matches of the whole season.

PGF World Season 7 Finale Recap And Results
The first superfight saw Rana Willink, daughter of podcast legend Jocko Willink, taking on Zaira Villasenor and she was absolutely relentless in hunting her opponent’s legs. It took a few different attacks but eventually Willink was able to find the finish with a heel hook. The second superfight was for the PGF women’s under 125lbs title and Kiaya Jackson defended her belt with an exceptional performance. She faced UFC veteran and talented grappler Vanessa Demopoulos in what should have been a tough match, but she made short work of her in the end by locking up a tight guillotine choke after just 49 seconds.
All four of the opening round matches for the finale of PGF World Season 7 ended in submissions, with plenty of notable moments. Paul Ardila was put in the referee reset position in his match with Elijah Carlton and although this is normally a bad thing, he quickly rolled through for a kneebar to get the win despite adversity. There was also a rematch that fans were undoubtedly looking forward to, as Marcin Maciulewicz faced Davis Asare for the second time in a week. It ended exactly like the first match though, as Maciulewicz submitted Asare with yet another brutal ankle-lock.
Ryan Aitken and Chris Wojcik also booked their places in the semi-final with submission wins, but the semi-finals were much tougher matches for everyone. Ardila pushed Aitken to the very limit and after three rounds of EBI overtime, Aitken racked up the maximum amount of ride-time to get the win even though he couldn’t find the finish. On the other side of the bracket, Wojcik and Maciulewicz had the closest EBI overtime experience of the night as both men were able to escape every period very quickly. In the end it was Wojcik who won by the thinnest of margins, racking up just 23 more seconds of ride-time to book his place in the final.
The two superfights gave them a bit of rest before the final, but it had been an incredibly gruelling week for both Wojcik and Aitken. Both men had gone through 14 matches in 5 days to make it to this point and the $20,000 grand prize was finally within reach. Aitken was the favorite on paper after finishing first in the regular season and submitting Wojcik in their matchup. Wojcik was more than enough of a match for him though and both men left it all on the mat, engaging in an incredibly even ten-minute regulation period. Aitken showed his mastery of EBI overtime then though, hitting three incredibly quick escapes in a row to become the champion.
