Ocean BJJ have just announced a huge increase in prize money for their trials events in 2025, and the introduction of equal pay for male and female competitors. The promotion is coming into their second season now and last year was a huge success, with several fun trials events culminating in an epic grand finale. This year will follow the same rough format, but the improved prize money for both genders is just one of the big changes coming in. They’ve also made quite a few changes to the ruleset to allow more techniques than ever before, and more than many grappling promotions will allow.

To reward for competitors for making it through a gauntlet of tough matches and earning their place in the grand finale, Ocean BJJ is now awarding up to €10,000 in prize money to each winner. There are four divisions available to compete in, with it being split by under or over 80kg for men and under or over 65kg for women. The prize money is dependant on the number of athletes registering for the trials, across all of the events in total. The first four are already announced and taking place across a period of nine weeks in different locations all around Europe, and they’ll no doubt attract some of the top competitors in the region with the new prizes on offer.

The trials events were already tough in their first edition last year and the competitors who won them are among the very best in the world, most notably Gamila Kanew and Pawel Jaworski. Kanew even ended up winning both the under and over 65kg divisions and although Jaworski didn’t win his divisions, he notched up a pair of huge wins that helped him break through to the highest level last year. They are both great examples of the kind of success available for grapplers who are capable of winning an Ocean BJJ trial, and the tough level of competition that you will have to face along the way.

The four Ocean BJJ trials for 2025 are scheduled as follows:

First Trial – Warsaw, Poland on April 19th – Register here!

Second Trial – Venice, Italy on May 11th – Register here!

Third Trial – Pistoia, Italy on June 8th – Register here!

Fourth Trial – Barcelona, Spain on June 22nd – Register here!

Ocean BJJ announced the brand new prize money and equal pay structure for the 2025 trials in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
