New Breed Jiu-Jitsu Federation decided to host The Ultimate Grappler for the second year in a row on December 6th, 2025, closing off another year in competition. The promotion selects several key tournament dates throughout the year where the winners of the absolute bracket receive an invite to a 16-man tournament with $5,000 on the line and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The early favorite was Wallisson Oliveira, who has already competed on several big shows around the US and even stood on the black belt podium of the IBJJF World Championship earlier this year. Although that was a gi tournament of, Oliveira has been equally impressive in no gi as well.
Oliveira made a great run to the final too, submitting all 3 of his opponents on the way there. There was an equally impressive performance on the other side of the bracket though, as 22 year-old brown belt Joao Paulo beat his first two opponents on points without conceding a single one. Then he had a tough decision win over the reigning Ultimte Grappler champion from last year, Pedro Moura, to book his place in the final. It was another upset there for Paulo, as he managed to win another decision over Oliveira in order to take home both the title and the $5,000 grand prize.
