Both Nate Diaz and Mike Perry will be making their return to professional MMA competition, as the two men will be fighting each other on the upcoming Netflix card put together by Most Valuable Promotions. It’s the company that Jake Paul initially created to promote his own boxing matches but they quickly branched out into producing whole cards featuring several world champions, and now they’re moving in to MMA. They’ve pulled out all the stops too, as this fight is booked alongside Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano and the long-awaited return of Francis Ngannou after his own foray into boxing.
Both Diaz and Perry were primarily strikers throughout their MMA careers, but their approach was significantly different. Diaz used high-volume output to wear opponents down and scared people away from taking him down with elite Jiu-Jitsu once he got there, whereas Perry was a knockout artist who fought hard to keep the fight standing at all costs with takedown defense. They also both left MMA behind several years ago to pursue different combat sports; with Diaz going 1-1 in boxing since leaving the UFC in 2022 and Perry being released by the UFC in 2021 before embarking on an incredibly successful bare-knuckle boxing career.
This fight is undoubtedly going to pull in quite a lot of viewers, and not just because both men are household names in the combat sports world. Both of them are always willing to stand and trade and neither of them slow down no matter how much damage they take. That stylistic matchup means that Diaz vs Perry is virtually guaranteed to be an exciting fight on the feet. Diaz has the clear advantage on the ground but it’s not very likely that he actually takes the fight there and Perry definitely isn’t going to want to, so the only way fans see a submission is if it comes after someone gets dropped on the feet.
Netflix announced the news that Nate Diaz and Mike Perry were going to meet in an MMA fight in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
