Nate Diaz has announced that he’s starting to prepare for his life after combat sports competition as he’s just opened a new fight promotion company, Real Fight Inc. The younger Diaz brother has been one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster for quite some time thanks to his exciting fighting style and legendary promotional work, but his time as a fighter is coming to an end. It should come as no surprise either considering the fact that Diaz is in his late 30s and has been fighting competitively since the age of 17.
As it stands, Diaz has just one fight left on his UFC contract and he’s currently booked to fight against the rising star Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 a few months before his 38th birthday. With the news that Diaz is setting up Real Fight Inc, he becomes one of many MMA fighters that have decided to stay in the MMA world even after their competitive career is over. That doesn’t mean that Diaz will retire from combat sports entirely however as he’s a third degree BJJ black belt and plenty of MMA fighters have been known to take grappling matches in retirement. In fact, Diaz has already a potential match offered to him by Gilbert Burns and there would surely be no shortage of potential opponents if he chooses to compete in submission grappling.
Nate Diaz started by posting a video to his official Instagram account before he announced the news of his role in Real Fight Inc in a press statement that was released to media outlets:
“Nathan Diaz will be applying for his promoter’s license in the coming weeks to form Real Fight, Inc., a new promotion that will focus on promoting combat sports shows, specifically boxing, MMA and BJJ. The new venture has no bearing on his status as a fighter, where he will continue to be very active. Real Fight, Inc. is his expansion into the business side of the sport where he has been a fixture for close to 20 years.”
