Nate Diaz has now left the popular Russian MMA reality show, ALF Global Reality, early after a brawl broke out during filming. The news was revealed by his long-time training partner Jake Shields, who was actually on location with him as a member of his coaching staff. Shields and others were documenting the show right from the beginning, before the official filming had actually begun. Diaz was attending as a coach alongside his opposite number Jon Jones, and footage that Shields has released shows both men taking photos and meeting members of the cast with plenty of camera crew around.
The footage shows one fighter in particular approaching the coaches, starting out with what appears to be a pretty friendly meeting with Jon Jones. He then moves on to Diaz and it appears as though he tries to grab Diaz, but gets shrugged off in return. The situation then escalates very quickly, with the unnamed fighter and Diaz getting into a physical altercation with dozens of people around. A member of Diaz’s team then hits the fighter and that’s the moment that everything goes crazy, as multiple people become involved and it descends into a wild brawl that is all caught on camera.
Shields then it explains that the fighter wasn’t even removed from the show and instead returned later, with a second brawl breaking out. Shields himself then got involved but he made some pretty startling claims about who was on the other side:
“To me it was very clear that it was the staff and the workers. That was one of those moments where’s like I better diffuse the situation.”
Diaz’s team all left after that and although Shields claims that the producers of the show tried to get them to return, they chose not to do so:
“Why are we going to go back and film a show? It’s one thing to be fighting the fighters, that’s why I went out there with Nate, I thought it was a possibility some of these fighters will try to test him but when you have potentially the crew hitting you too, it’s like no, f**k that.”
