Pit Submission Series 8 is scheduled for October 11th, 2024 and the promotion has booked more matches than they’ve ever had at one event before. The grappling arm of Karate Combat has historically stuck to no more than three matches per event, sometimes even dropping down to just two. They’ve put together four matches in total for their 8th event though and each one looks set to produce some fireworks for the fans. Even the very first match on the card features one of the top contenders in his weight class, as Daniel Sathler will be taking on a new challenge from Matheus Costa.
Neither Sathler or Costa have ever competed in the pit before and the second match of the night will feature another two grapplers testing out the new format for the first time. Paulo Miyao is the bigger name in the pairing and as a veteran of hundreds of BJJ matches across multiple different rulesets, there isn’t much that he can’t adapt to. He also has the advantage of being able to learn from his brother Joao who competed back at Pit Submission Series 2. The opponent will also be a familiar one for Miyao, as he will be having his fifth match against ADCC Trials winner Pablo Mantovani.
That will lead straight into the co-main event of the evening, where AJ Agazarm will be making his return to the pit to face elite masters competitor Piter Frank as he searches for his first win in the new setting. Agazarm had his one and only match in the pit at PSS 5, where he lost a convincing decision to Lucas ‘Hulk’ Barbosa. The main event features another promotional veteran, although this time it’s one coming off a win in his debut. Vagner Rocha takes on Calon Sabino in the final match of the night and Rocha will no doubt be eager to continue his winning streak in the pit after a solid performance in the inaugural event.
