Mohammed Avtarhanov has stepped in on just 2 days’ notice for Polaris 33 on September 13th, 2025, where he will be a member of the Asia and Oceania Squad. He will be replacing Kit Dale, who has been forced to withdraw from the event right at the last minute. It’s a huge opportunity for Avtarhanov for several reasons; namely that it’s going to be a lot of exposure for him and that he joins a stacked Asia and Oceania lineup that have a real chance of winning their matchup. It won’t be easy for Avtarhanov and his teammates though, as the South American Squad standing opposite them is equally impressive.
That’s their opening round match of the Polaris Squads Intercontinental Championship 2025 and a win there will book their place in the final at the end of the year. They can’t afford to look past South America but they already know who their potential opponents will be, as the European Squad beat North America back at Polaris 31. Avtarhanov might not be as well-known as some of his teammates but he will still be a huge asset to them, as he’s been rapidly making a name for himself. Avtarhanov has had great performances against elite competitors on smaller shows, but his big win was a decision over Jacob Rodriguez at Polaris 29.
He has since returned to the Polaris mats and actually competed at their last show, Polaris 32, where he lost to Eoghan O’Flanagan in the main event. Although he didn’t come away with the win there, he was facing one of the best grapplers in the world at their weight class. Now Avtarhanov will get a chance to rebound at Polaris, as he’ll likely have a few matches against top competitors depending on how well he does. He obviously hasn’t been able to prepare to the same degree that both his opponents and teammates have, so it’ll be interesting to see how he performs.
Polaris announced the news that Mohammed Avtarhanov was joining the Asia and Oceania Squad in a recent post to their official Instagram account:
