Mo Jassim and Craig Jones have been feuding for quite a while now and it seems as though neither man is backing down any time soon, as Jassim has just challenged Jones to a boxing match at a Karate Combat event. It’s definitely an unusual request to say the least, as Jassim isn’t known as a competitor in any fashion and Jones has never decided to compete in a ruleset with strikes before. It does make some sense though, as Jones would certainly get the better of any grappling match or match with grappling involved, and a boxing match is a little bit more of an unknown.
The mention of Karate Combat might seem unusual at first too, but there is some precedence there. The promotion regularly includes their Influencer Fight Club matches at their events, where people from the social media world step into the pit to settle scores or just have fun matches against one another. A boxing match between Jassim and Jones would be the perfect main event for one of these cards and given that Karate Combat have already spent a ton of time pushing grappling matches at Pit Submission Series, they’d almost certainly be willing to book the match too. It would also likely generate a ton of interest for an upcoming event too, and that’s something any promotion would be on the lookout for.
Jassim and Jones have previously been on good terms, but the rivalry between ADCC and the Craig Jones Invitational has resulted in some stern words from both men. There’s been plenty of back and forth, and it seems as though that feud has finally reached boiling point. This challenge comes off the back of the news that Jassim quit his role as the head organizer for ADCC, with Jones being quick to hint that he was actually fired instead. Jassim and other key figures have maintained that his exit was voluntary and he is still going to organize some events like ADCC Trials and the ADCC Youth Championship.
Mo Jassim issued the challenge of a boxing match on Karate Combat to Craig Jones in a recent comment from his official Instagram account:
It didn’t take long at all for Craig Jones to respond to the bizarre challenge from Mo Jassim either, although he wasn’t completely clear on whether he’d be accepting the Karate Combat boxing match. In true Craig Jones fashion, he chose to respond in a tongue-in-cheek manner and took the opportunity to take one last shot at the prize money that ADCC offer their competitors:
