Mikey Musumeci Wins Flyweight Title At ONE on Amazon Video 2

Mikey Musumeci just became the inaugural ONE Championship Flyweight world champion after putting on a fantastic display of his elite talents against Cleber Sousa at ONE on Amazon Video 2. Musumeci didn’t manage to finish Sousa but he won the title by unanimous decision after a match where he ended up registering the most submission attempts, as per the ONE Championship submission grappling rules. This moment marks a new age for grappling in the ONE Championship cage as the promotion has crowned it’s very first world champion in the sport, no doubt with plenty more to come in the future.

The promotion has been putting in more effort in to making submission grappling matches over the last few months, including packing them in to two events in one day back in August. That weekend put Tommy Langaker in the prime position to challenge for the inaugural Middleweight title and naturally, Gordon Ryan is the top choice to compete for the Heavyweight title after his incredible run over the last few years. They aren’t the only big names in the BJJ world already signed to the ONE Championship roster however, as the promotion also has Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida, Garry Tonon, Shinya Aoki, Masakazu Imanari, and the Ruotolo brothers.
