UFC BJJ 5 is scheduled for February 12th, 2026 and the promotion has just announced a pair of title-fights among the matches that will take place. There are several fun matchups outside that though, like Andy Murasaki vs Andy Varela and Taylor Hishaw vs Rebeca Lima. Each one will take place in the promotion’s unique bowl structure that has borrowed the best elements of the pit after it’s recent rise in popularity, while attempting to stay true to the octagon that UFC fans are already familiar with. Everything will be leading into the main and co-main events, where two of the promotion’s reigning champions will be putting their belts on the line.
First up is the middleweight champion Ronaldo Junior, as he will be attempting to make his first title-defense. Junior hasn’t held the title for very long at all, as he won it by defeating William Tackett by decision at UFC BJJ 4 just last month. Now he’ll be facing a challenge from one of the top competitors that Europe has to offer; Norwegian black belt Tarik Hopstock. Although Hopstock is best known for being the creator of the Tarikoplata, he’s a well-rounded grappler with an excellent leglock game as well. This will be his promotional debut, and he’s earned the title-shot by winning the middleweight division at the IBJJF No Gi World Championship last year.
Then in the main event, one of the promotion’s longest-running champions is being put to the test as well. Mikey Musumeci won the bantamweight title back at UFC BJJ 1 and is one of just 3 current champions to do so. He kicked things off with a dominant submission win and then followed it up another one at UFC BJJ 3, serving as the main event on both occasions. Musumeci will be facing another of Europe’s best no gi competitors, as Scottish grappler Shay Montague is also getting a title-shot in his promotional debut after winning his first no gi world title last year but in the roosterweight division.
