The second ADCC Sao Paulo Open 2025 took place on August 23rd and although there were several impressive performances throughout the day, it was the young Melqui Galvao prospects that really stood out. Kalebe Pereira was probably their most well-known competitor at the event, and the 16 year-old purple belt submitted all three of his opponents to win gold at under 70kg. Fellow Melqui Galvao purple belt Arthur Figueiredo is just one year older and he won gold at under 83kg, submitting 3 out of 4 of his opponents. Then their 19 year-old teammate Vitor Oliveira ran through perhaps the toughest division of the whole event, beating all 5 of his opponents at under 91kg.

Two of Galvao’s black belts also left with gold medals, as Alessandro Botelho won the under 76kg division and Evellyn Azevedo won the women’s under 55kg bracket. Galvao wasn’t the only one to bring a talented young grappler to the event though, as 18 year-old Dream Art purple belt Agatha Nigro submitted 3 out of 4 opponents and won both the over 70kg and absolute divisions. The men’s absolute champion was Eduardo Andrade, but he couldn’t remain undefeated as he lost in the second round of his weight class. He did beat the under 100kg champion Rafael Trabuco in the final though, so that was a very big feather in his cap. The final big name at the second ADCC Sao Paulo Open 2025 was Henrique ‘Ceconi’ Cardoso, who beat 3 opponents to win the over 100kg division.
