Elite BJJ competitor Max Gimenis just made his debut against Josh Hokit at UFC Vegas 111 on November 8th, 2025 but it didn’t go his way in the end. Gimenis was coming into this fight riding a decent amount of momentum and there was quite a lot of hype around him when he first signed a UFC contract. That wasn’t just because he’s an incredible grappler in a division that is normally short of them, he’d already proven himself in the cage too. He already owned a 6-1 professional record coming into his fight with Hokit, and all but one of those fights ended in a finish.
Given that Hokit was 6-0 with a 100% finishing rate, this fight was always going to end early. Not many people would have predicted just how early though, as it didn’t even make it out of the first minute. Hokit wobbled Gimenis with a big right hand and although he recovered quickly, another right hand dropped him soon after. Gimenis popped back up but Hokit sensed the finish was coming and he really piled on the pressure with a flurry of strikes. Gimenis tried to dodge and stay alive but too many of them landed, and the referee waved the fight off just a matter of seconds later.
