Mario Lopez is just one of a growing number of celebrities who are training hard in BJJ and the blue belt recently did an interview on The View, where he discussed the benefits of training. The real reason he went on the show was to discuss the upcoming reboot of the 80’s classic that made him famous, Saved By The Bell. As the interview was done via video call, Whoopi Goldberg and her fellow co-hosts caught Lopez what appeared to be only minutes after he’d finished up a training session.
Lopez took the call while he was still on the mats of Gracie Barra Glendale and still wearing his sweaty training gear. Naturally, this is how the conversation soon took a turn towards his passion for the sport, one that he has actually trained alongside one of his Saved By The Bell co-stars. Mark-Paul Gosselaar played Zach Morris to Lopez’s A.C. Slater on the eponymous show and both actors have since achieved the rank of blue belt.
Lopez explained on the show that he started training in BJJ himself as a result of originally getting his son into the sport. Since then, he’s been dedicated to the sport and determined to improve as much as he can, with his passion being pretty obvious. So much so in fact, that he was even spotted in attendance at ADCC 2019, watching some of the sport’s biggest names battle it out.
