The location and dates for the ADCC North American East Coast Trials in 2023 have just been announced, and the event will be taking place on the weekend of October 14th and 15th at the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The event will be organized by Tom DeBlass, who has been an integral part of the ADCC team over the last few years. DeBlass was the head organizer for the last edition of the North American East Coast Trials in 2021 as well, which ended up being an undeniable success. The event was the most stacked out of any trial for ADCC 2022 and it broke all previous records, attracting the highest number of competitors ever seen at any ADCC trial.
The number of competitors seemed to directly translate to success in the eventual ADCC world championships as well, because several athletes who won this particular trials event transitioned directly to the podium. Both Kade Ruotolo and Giancarlo Bodoni won their place at ADCC 2022 at the North American East Coast Trials, and they ended up winning the 77kg and 88kg divisions respectively. Not only was it the only trials event to generate two champions but the winner of the women’s under 60kg division, Brianna Ste-Marie, ended up coming away with a silver medal too.
Now that the location and dates for the ADCC North American East Coast Trials has been confirmed, the promotion’s schedule is starting to fill out. This will be the second trials event of the year after the first European, Middle-Eastern, and African trial takes place in Poland in September. There is due to be at least one more trial before 2023 is over, with the first Asia and Oceania trial tentatively scheduled for December. The exact date and location of that third trial is yet to be confirmed, but the promotion will no doubt release the information shortly.
