Lachlan and Livia Giles are one of the most successful power couples in BJJ and it seems as though they’re about to have an addition to the family in the form of a baby boy! Both Lachlan and Livia are experienced competitors and ADCC veterans, with Lachlan earning a bronze medal in the absolute division in 2019 and Livia went out in the first round against the eventual winner, Bianca Basilio. Both of the expectant parents announced the amazing news on their respective official Instagram accounts, where they showed the sonogram and due date of July 2021.
Prior to this, Lachlan built up a reputation as a dominant force at the ADCC Asia & Oceania Trials where he would take the gold medal on three consecutive attempts in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Livia on the other hand competed more often on the IBJJF circuit where she won the World Championships three separate times during her journey through the colored belts before being awarded her black belt in 2017. The pair are both well known as some of the best coaches and competitors to ever come out of Australia and there’s still plenty of time for them to advance on this.
With ADCC being delayed until an undisclosed date in 2022, it’s possible that the World Championships may go ahead without Livia in attendance, or at least without her competing. But seeing as the Asia and Oceania trials are set to go ahead in December 2021, there’s still a few months between her due date and the trials should she choose to compete after giving birth. Regardless, congratulations are in order for both Lachlan and Livia Giles on the fantastic news of their baby being on his way!
