Kheydon Gracie is the son of legendary BJJ and MMA fighter Royce Gracie but he’s become one of the few members of the world’s most famous Jiu-Jitsu family to forego the family business, and now he’s decided to enlist in the US army instead. Kheydon is only 19 at the moment but will joining the ranks of the infantry after signing an 11X contract with a ranger option. Of course, the hard work has only just begun as he will now have to complete the standard level of infantry training, airborne school, and ranger A & S in order for him to be officially declared an army ranger.
Kheydon isn’t the only son of Royce Gracie either, and the UFC Hall of Famer is likely just as proud of his other children, including Khonry Gracie. Khonry is a few years older than Kheydon and he did actually follow in his father’s footsteps when he attempted to make it big in the Bellator Welterweight division. He started off on shaky ground when he lost his professional MMA debut but soon managed to right the ship by winning his next two fights to reach the end of 2019 with a 2-1 record. Khonry suffered an injury shortly after this and was forced to take some time away from the sport in order to rest and recover, although he did return and attempt to continue his run.
Khonry lost his fourth MMA fight at the end of 2020 and was eventually cut from the Bellator roster soon after. It remains to be seen what he chooses to do moving forward and whether he will continue fighting in another promotion is not yet known. Royce Gracie does have other children as well and as they all continue their journey into adulthood, there may yet be more of them to embark on professional MMA careers like Khonry or join the military like Kheydon. Royce Gracie made the announcement that his son Kheydon had just enlisted in the US army in a post to his official Instagram account, where he revealed just how proud he was in him and celebrated his enlistment ceremony:
