Some of the team members at B-Team Jiu-Jitsu have just revealed that Khabib Nurmagomedov is hosting them for a team grappling tournament in his home-country of Kazakhstan. They revealed the news on a recent episode of The Simple Man Podcast, the regular show that features some of the founding members of B-Team talking about all aspects of their training and normal life. This isn’t the first time that some breaking news has emerged from casual conversation between them, although this is definitely among the biggest things to emerge.
Ethan Crelinsten was actually the one who revealed the news:
“It’s a team event in Kazakhstan, in Al-Mati, Kazakhstan. Where it’s B-Team versus Khabib Nurmagomedov’s team.”
Damien Anderson immediately asked him the exact same question that was no doubt going through every listener’s head at the moment, whether or not it was going to involve Nurmagomedov himself. It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise given that Nurmagomedov has turned down offers for grappling matches in the past, but sadly it was shot down:
“No, but that would be insane. He is coaching.”
There’s no news as to who will be representing B-Team Jiu-Jitsu against the team that Khabib Nurmagomedov puts together, but Crelinsten was able to clarify some of the rules for the grappling tournament at least:
“He’s the coach, we got a team together… 99 minus kg all the way down to 60kg, under 60kg. So it’s seven guys spread out across that.”
“It’s not Quintet-style, it’s dual. So like weight class for weight class and I think there’s like a tiered system, like a points-win is something like one point and a sub is two points. Something like that.”
