ONE 171 took place on February 20th, 2025 and Kade Ruotolo continued his flawless start that he’s enjoyed in his professional MMA career so far. Things looked promising for Ruotolo right from the start, as he finished his debut fight at ONE 167 last year in just a little over three minutes. It didn’t take long for him to get back in the cage either, as he returned before the end of the year and submitted another opponent in the first round at ONE 169. Although he’d been steadily increasing the level of opponent he was facing, the results were the same each time.
His fight at ONE 171 represented his toughest test yet, as he was up against fellow undefeated fighter Nicolas Vigna. He started out strong by landing a head kick and hunting a submission finish in the scramble that followed, before finding his way to Vigna’s back. He then transitioned to mount and locked up an arm-triangle choke from there, stepping off to the side to get the squeeze and force Vigna to tap. That has moved him to 3-0 in his professional MMA career and ONE Championship will likely be looking for even bigger names to match him with from now on.
