Kade Ruotolo has just taken the next big step in his professional MMA career, racking up his second win at ONE 169 on November 8th, 2024. He was facing a tough challenge from Ahmed Mujtaba in his second professional fight, but the young BJJ star looked completely unfazed by his opponent. Although he’s still relatively new to the sport, Ruotolo had a very impressive debut earlier in the year and it really does seem like the sky is the limit for him in MMA after this most recent performance. He predicted an early finish in his fight against Mujtaba and he was right on the money, as he delivered one of the most exciting finishes and earned a $50,000 ‘Performance of the Night’ bonus.
Ruotolo wasted no time at all and he showed off some fantastic striking, rocking Mujtaba and dropping him early in the first round. He clearly sensed blood in the water as he swarmed Mujtaba immediately and started raining down heavy shots from top position as his opponent tried to recover. Mujtaba tried to wrestle up on a single-leg and that gave Ruotolo the opportunity he needed to shoot his arm through for a D’arce choke, squeezing for the finish just a few seconds later. He wasn’t the only elite BJJ competitor who produced a first-round finish either, as Marcus ‘Buchecha’ Almeida bounced back with a submission win over Amir Aliakbari earlier in the night.
