Josh Hinger has just revealed that he’s sadly suffered a home invasion and robbery, where around $35-40,000 worth of goods have been stolen. Hinger is an elite professional grappler and a third degree BJJ black belt under ATOS head coach and founder Andre Galvao. He’s been a permanent face on the highest levels of the competition scene over the past decade, and he’s one of the more popular grapplers out there thanks to his fun style and friendly nature. He’s particularly well-known for his mastery of the guillotine and he’s been able to submit a number of top competitors with it over the years.
Hinger originally started out his combat sports career with wrestling but eventually transitioned to BJJ and has gone to win the IBJJF no gi world championship on three occasions, and won ADCC trials back in 2019 as well. That victory earned him an invite to ADCC 2019 and he put on a fantastic performance in the 88kg division, going 3-1 over the course of the weekend and leaving with a bronze medal. He returned again at ADCC 2022 and earned one of the biggest wins of the weekend over Tye Ruotolo, before finishing up at 1-1 for the event. In between these victories in the most prestigious BJJ tournaments on the planet, Hinger has also competed in superfights for pretty much every major promotion on the planet like Polaris, BJJ Stars, and Who’s Number One.
Josh Hinger shared images of the aftermath of the home invasion and robbery on social media, and explained that the items that were stolen range from IDs and credit cards to firearms and sadly even wedding rings. It’s undoubtedly devastating and it isn’t something that anybody ever deserves to go through, a sentiment that Hinger echoed himself. Our thoughts go out to both Hinger and his family as they attempt to re-build, and we hope that they can manage to put things back together.
