JitsCast #53 features Jordan Preisinger, the man behind one of the most popular BJJ YouTube channels. Preisinger has spent several years working as ‘Jordan Teaches Jiujitsu’, covering a wide range of topics and providing a huge amount of valuable material for practitioners around the world. One of the most popular elements of what Preisinger does is his rolling commentary, where he watches back training rounds with other people and explains his intentions and reactions as they happen. It’s far from the only content he creates but it’s an amazing resource for practitioners looking to better understand what’s going on during a roll.
Jits Magazine first spoke to Preisinger about his time before creating the channel, when he was still an active competitor on the Canadian circuit alongside several men who’ve gone on to become some of the best in the sport like Dante Leon and Oliver Taza. Preisinger also shed some light on his journey through the colored belts, including the experience of opening up his own academy when he was just a blue belt. He also explained how he was able to still develop his skills despite not having a coach to guide him at the time, and why he believes strongly in doing homework off the mats.
Preisinger also spoke about his upcoming match with BJJ legend Xande Ribeiro that will take place at Who’s Number One 31. He explained how the surprising matchup actually came about and how he has been preparing for the match over the past few weeks. Although many grappling fans might be writing Preisinger off due to the accolades that Ribeiro has won over the course of his career, Preisinger also shared some of the ways that he thinks he might have an advantage over Ribeiro. It’ll be interesting to see how Preisinger performs on the night and if he does win, he’s made it clear that he wants to come back again.
