BJJ Stars 14: The History is scheduled for November 30th, 2024 and the promotion has just announced a superb lineup for the featherweight grand prix that will serve as the main attraction. The tournament features 8 of the best grapplers in the world at this weight, including three of the last four men to win the IBJJF World Championship. Each and every man in the bracket is going to be an incredibly tough opponent and it’s almost impossible to predict a winner accurately before the night. The reigning IBJJF World Champion should be considered the early favourite, but things are going to be far from easy for him.
That man is Meyram Maquine and although he’s only lost a tiny number of matches throughout his career, it just so happens that three of the men to beat him are in this bracket. Fabricio Andrey has a win over Maquine and is the IBJJF world champion from 2021, so he will also be a top contender even though Maquine has since avenged that loss. Cleber Sousa has also managed to beat Maquine once the many matches that he has had with Maquine, while Israel Almeida actually won the only match between them and will no doubt be someone that Maquine has his eye on as the bracket unfolds.
Maquine will also have to contend with the last world champion before him, Samuel Nagai. Not only will Nagai be one of the other top contenders in the lineup at BJJ Stars 14, but he will also be out for revenge against Maquine after previous losses. The remaining competitors have also stood on the podium of the IBJJF World Championship in the past; as Malachi Edmond, Diego Sodre, and Marcio Andre will be rounding out the bracket. Each of these men have a chance of coming away with the title and a grand prize of 100,000 Brazilian Real awaits the man that can win all three of his matches.
