The IBJJF South Brazilian Championship 2025 took place across February 1st and 2nd, 2025 and some of the best gi competitors in the world added titles to their collections. Pedro Machado came away with double gold in the end, winning both the heavyweight and absolute divisions. There was tough opposition in the absolute division too, with Cleyton Flores winning a bronze medal there after earning a silver at ultra-heavyweight. He lost in the final of his weight class against multiple-time IBJJF World Championship gold medallist Erich Munis and success ran in the family for him at the event too, as the super-heavyweight division was won by his older brother Anderson Munis.

The lighter divisions featured some exciting matches too, particularly at middleweight where Facundo Ciancio beat Bruno Bressan in the final. Lucas Maquine also stood out when he won the lightweight division, while the bronze medal there went to top young prospect Nikolas Souza. There were a few big names competing in the women’s divisions as well, although there was no double champion. Maria Claudia won gold at lightweight but had to settle for bronze in the absolute, but the woman who beat her in the semi-final went on to win gold. That was Isabely Lemos, and she just missed out on a second title in the super-heavyweight division when she lost the only match to Maria Nascimento.
