The IBJJF South American Championship 2025 took place on November 30th, 2025 and some of the best competitors in Brazil took to the mats. Vinicius Liberati was the only double champion at black belt, winning both the heavyweight and absolute divisions. In the women’s divisions, Giovanna Jara and Mariana Lira split the honours by winning a gold and silver medal each across the heavyweight and absolute divisions. They weren’t the only big names competing in the women’s divisions either; with one of the most notable being the light-featherweight champion Jessica Dantas. The middleweight division was won by Larissa Martins, and the heaviest division saw Marina Carraro beat some tough opposition to the top of the podium.
The men’s divisions were equally impressive too, starting with Yuri Silva taking home gold at roosterweight. Nathannael Jackson won the next division at light-featherweight and although he had to get through some tough matches to do it, the most stacked brackets were a little heavier. Alex Munis fought his way to the top of the medium-heavyweight division despite a very challenging opponent in the final; Gabriel Galvao. Galvao had to settle for a silver medal there but he came back later in the day for a good run through the absolute division as well; leaving with a bronze medal from there.
