The IBJJF Pan Pacific Championship 2025 took place from October 25th to 26th, 2025 and there were some great matches even though the turnout wasn’t huge at the highest level. The biggest star in attendance was undoubtedly in the women’s divisions, as Adele Fornarino made the decision to enter at both lightweight and in the absolute division. Although she is primarily a no gi competitor these days she was still flawless in the gi, winning both brackets and leaving as the double champion. Fornarino even had to beat the heavyweight champion in the semi-final of the absolute division, overcoming a pretty big size disadvantage.
The men’s double champion was also a notable competitor though, as Uanderson Ferreira made the journey all the way to Melbourne for some tough matches. He competed slightly higher than normal too, winning the heavyweight division before also winning the absolute. There were a few other big names elsewhere too, particularly at super-heavyweight where IBJJF World Championship bronze medalist Marcelo Gomide stood on top of the podium. There was plenty of talent coming from much closer to the tournament as well though, including middleweight champion Ariel Tabak. Top Australian competitor Ricky Pachon also made an appearance, but he had to settle for a pair of bronze medals at super-heavyweight and in the absolute.
