The IBJJF No Gi Pan Pacific Championship 2025 took place on October 24th, 2025 and even though the divisions weren’t very full, they still featured a few top black belt competitors. This was most apparent in the female divisions, where there were only two women competing. Adele Fornarino won gold medals at both heavyweight and in the absolute division after beating the only other entrant. Top young Australian black belt Thomas Messo achieved the same feat in the men’s divisions but he had to get through a few more matches to do it, beating 4 opponents across both the medium-heavyweight and absolute divisions.
Michael Messo stood next to him on the absolute podium with a bronze medal, shortly after winning the middleweight division himself. Ultra-heavyweight champion Uros Culic placed in between them in the absolute with a silver medal there, and the final man rounding out the podium was popular competitor Sebastian Attard. There were a few other big names from the Australian grappling circuit competing elsewhere too, with the most notable being Josh Allsopp at heavyweight. Allsopp is a frequent competitor who will be very familiar to Australian grappling fans and he got the job done in style at heavyweight, beating Attard on the way to winning gold there.
