IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship 2023 Absolute Bracket

The absolute division is where most of the attention is placed at every major tournament, as it presents the opportunity for huge upsets and allows fans to see clashes between competitors that they might not normally be able to see. The IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship 2023 is no exception to this, and some truly incredible matchups are waiting for when the absolute division starts. Below are the full brackets for both the men’s and women’s absolute divisions, along with a look at some of the most interesting matches and favorites to reach the top of the podium.

Men’s Division

The men’s absolute division at the IBJJF No Gi Pan Championship 2023 is stacked with some of the best grapplers on the planet and there’s several men that could come out with the gold medal here. Hunter Colvin is the top seed in the division for good reason, and he has a fun match waiting in the second round against either Jose Munoz or Jose Jurema. His side of the bracket has a lot to look forward to in the first round, with Felipe Costa v Calon Sabino and Clay Mayfield v Bruno Matias both happening. Elder Cruz v Joao Gabriel Rocha stands out as the most interesting matchup that fans will get to see immediately though, and things get even crazier from that point onward.

Dante Leon is the second seed in the division and he’s on the other side of the bracket, with interesting matches against either Max Li or Luccas Lira waiting for him. Things don’t get any easier for him after that point either, as he might end up having to get Mathias Luna in the next round. His most likely quarter-final matches wouldn’t look out of place as a superfight for a popular promotion either, as Francisco Lo and Pedro Rocha are both just a pair of wins away from facing him

Women’s Division

Elizabeth Mitrovic stands out as the favorite to win this division and she should be able to make it to the final at the very least. There’s an interesting prospect on her side of the bracket though, as Amanda Bruse might be ready to break through to the highest level of the sport after being promoted to black belt a little under a year ago. She has a tough run ahead of her though, with 4 matches that include a quarter-final against Mitrovic if she can make it past the opening round.

The other side of the bracket has ended up even more stacked, including an interesting opening round match between Gabi Schuck and Maria Ruffatto. Along with that exciting matchup, Maggie Grindatti Lira has also been seeded on this side of the bracket. She’ll be competing at a weight disadvantage against a lot of the women here and although she has a bye in the opening round, a difficult quarter-final against either Roberta Ribeiro or Samantha Hall await her.
